Self-Practice EFT
Before you use EFT self-application, what else is needed?
During the EFT sessions I conduct with my clients, they learn how to apply EFT. They are provided with the necessary skills to use the techniques for ongoing use and I provide my support when required, for as long as it is required. Anybody can learn the techniques of EFT and apply them, however, it is important to source a well-trained practitioner to work with you before going down the self-help route.
Why is this?
I have mentioned this because I have noted many websites that include EFT encourage the notion of how easy self-application is without requiring outside guidance. There are some very important reasons for engaging a good practitioner initially. The practitioner is an important part of their client’s healing and is in the position to observe when their client has subtle or not so subtle emotional responses as they advance through the EFT process.
The benefit of being an ‘outside observer’ allows them to pick up clues as to what emotions are generated at the time they are generated.
The client is then guided to persevere with an emotion or feeling that surfaces as a dominant ‘aspect’, which may otherwise be bypassed by the client for whatever reason.
It is the attention and intention the practitioner brings into the session that will assist in the core issue being identified. Not to say the individual can’t do that for themselves, but a person who is just starting out in EFT is less likely to know how to measure their responses or their ability to get to the core of the issue. The practitioner is there to provide emotional support and encouragement when the healing journey is especially confronting.
I have many current and past clients who use EFT on a regular basis purely for maintenance or for managing upheavals. I encourage this self-application as it hastens the healing process and it gives the client the skills they can use throughout their lives.
